Patience Patient

H
ere is my bionic neck. With the surgical pain gone, the muscles/soft tissues/tendons that hold the fusion and hardware in place are adjusting to their “dem
ands” and this is what creates the constant muscle spasms that turn into nausea and headaches. O
ne day of basic activity can leave me bedridden with a flare for a week. It's incredibly frustrating with the 2 steps forward, 3 steps back, but I keep trying!

I’m reminded of when I look at these x-rays is that I have a TRIPLE level fusion. The double fusion from 14 years ago is at the top and the most recent surgery from 2015 is the fusion at the bottom. It still shocks me to think about all I've been through.

Your support and encouragement on social media has been more helpful than I can ever express. Although I’m bored, I don’t always feel social. I’ve exhausted most everything on Netflix, Amazon, and good old cable TV.  I’m sure I’m not depressed, maybe a little bluer than I’ve been in a while but not anything a cat video won’t help (ha ha!).

My expectations post-surgery weren’t astronomical, but I did hope that the improvement I was experiencing the first months afterwards would continue moving forward. Being stuck sucks. I’m doing my best to be a patient patient.

Special thanks to my sweet MB for doing everything and helping me keep my spirits up!

**Cervical Fusion is from C3-4, C4-5, and C5-6
